I had some sort of a guide with me and I think I remember him being male. He was introducing me to the spirit world. I think I was alive, that is from the earthly realm, but was receiving a special privilege to participate in this experience. I didn't know why and I didn't ask. I suppose I could have been in a pre-mortal state as well.
My guide brought me to a location between two bookshelves where he stood in front of one and I stood across from him. We were facing each other, leaving a path between us for the procession of human spirits to walk through. They entered from the left side of the room, walked between us, and exited out the right, walking through a doorway and rounding the corner to the left, where they proceeded up a winding staircase.
As I realized all these spirits in black robes would be walking between us I got a little nervous and asked my guide what they would do. His reply was, "Ah, all they might do is hug you." It doesn't make sense to me that their robes were black. However, I wasn't afraid, and I remember thinking to myself as they approached, "Oh yeah! The spirit world is here on earth!" And true to my guide's word, when they walked through they hugged me, shook my hand, patted my shoulder, and passed along on their way. I remember there was even one guy in particular who seemed to have a special interest in me on his way through.
After a bit I noticed they were all somehow bound and asked what it was that bound them. Their reply was that they were waiting for the birth of Christ (Doctrine and Covenants 138: 11-12, 15-16, 18).
As the procession was just about over I rounded the corner to the stairs, probably to see where they were going, and noticed a girl sitting at the bottom of the stairs with another older woman who seemed to be fufilling a mentor role to this girl. The girl on the stairs told me that unlike the others, for her, there was no hope, because she had gotten involved with some people there that she shouldn't have. I countered that of course she had hope!!! The mentor stopped me, "No. No, she doesn't."
I figured the mentor didn't fully understand the power of the Atonement, so I took the opportunity to bear powerful testimony of the power of the Savior. I remember testifying that the Savior Jesus Christ has all power in earth *and* in heaven! (Matthew 28:18) And that He *could* help this girl! All she had to do is stop doing those things she knew she shouldn't and *change!*
After my testimony, mentor-lady went ballistic-crazy and in a fit of rage called forth an angel of death type figure to silence me. It was as if she wanted to keep this girl in misery. The approaching being alarmed me. I fled back to my guide, who had moved to a table just a bit before and above where the bookshelves were, and briefly explained to him what had happened. As we braced ourselves for the conflict, I woke up from my dream.

End Dream
---~~~---
As I lay on the verge of consciousness Sunday morning, I remember the first doctrine that went through my head was that any being with a body has power over those without (2011 Conference Address by President Packer). I also knew that the power of Christ is the greatest power. I'm not sure exactly what our plan of action was going to be, but I'm pretty sure it was something along those lines of relying on the power of Christ.
Lessons learned:
-Ask more questions!
-That guy who had a special interest in me is my future husband!

Quotes referenced, in case you're lazy:
---~~~---
D&C 138:
"...I saw the hosts of the dead, both small and great. And there were gathered together in one place an innumerable company of the spirits of the just, who had been faithful in the testimony of Jesus while they lived in mortality....I beheld that they were filled with joy and gladness, and were rejoicing together because the day of their deliverance was at hand. They were assembled awaiting the advent of the Son of God into the spirit world, to declare their redemption from the bands of death....While this vast multitude waited and conversed, rejoicing in the hour of their deliverance from the chains of death, the Son of God appeared, declaring liberty to the captives who had been faithful..."
Matthew 28:
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."
President Packer:
"The Prophet Joseph Smith taught, “All beings who have bodies have power over those who have not.” So every living soul who has a physical body ultimately has power over the adversary. You suffer temptations because of your physical nature, but you also have power over him and his angels."
Oh man! That's such an awesome dream!!! Do you remember what that guy (your future husband) looked like? Does that mean he's already dead?....
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it really means anything. It's all pretty weird. :p
